Mashpee

Located within about 20 minutes from both bridges (13 miles from the Sagamore Bridge and 14.7 miles from the Bourne Bridge) the town of Mashpee is rich in history.  Mashpee is the site of the headquarters of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, the original residents of Cape Cod.  The name itself is an Anglicization of the original native name, mass-nippe (meaning ‘greater cove’).  Mashpee has more than 5 miles of coastal sandy beaches Nantucket and Vineyard Sounds, and also offers waterfront along Waquoit and Popponesset Bays.  Mashpee is home to the fun shopping destination of Mashpee Commons, a charmingly built, downtown hub, with shopping, dining, walking and businesses.  Well known for its seaside community of New Seabury, Mashpee offers three world-class golf courses and freshwater beaches/ponds.  A truly charming destination!
