Martha's Vineyard Ferry 

The Steamship Authority, SSA, is the administrative body for the ferry operations of the Woods Hole, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket Steamship Authority, between Massachusetts mainland and Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket as well as the other islands, and the only authorized body running ferry services to carry cars and vehicles to and from these destinations.

The SSA runs ten vessels, six of which are mainly for passengers and personal cargo, five take on cars and trucks. The four other ferries are open-top for larger trucks and freight vehicles, but allow passengers and cars if there is space available.

There are year-round regular trips for passengers and cars ferried to Martha's Vineyard town of Vineyard Haven. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, there are ferry services to Oak Bluffs from the mainland terminal in Woods Hole. The boat trip takes around 45 minutes, to Vineyard Haven and to Oak Bluffs.

Nantucket Ferry 

There is no ferry direct from Falmouth to Nantucket Sound. There are, however, boat trips from the location of Clinton Street in Falmouth to get to Nantucket, through Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard. The boat trip takes 2 hours and 30 minutes including the transfers.
