Chatham

Chatham is known for its iconic and quintessential Main Street, expansive sea views and spectacular properties.  Located a little over 40 minutes from the Sagamore Bridge (about 35 miles), it is well worth the drive to visit.  Originally a small fishing village located on the southeastern tip (the “elbow”) of the Cape, it is now an infamous summer resort destination for visitors and second home owners alike. Home of the Chatham Lighthouse, originally established by President Jefferson to protect ships circling the Cape.  Chatham also has its own airport which makes easy weekend getaways truly possible.  It has truly maintained it’s quaintness even though it has evolved into such a spectacular seaside spot.  It is also a favorite spot for great white sharks, due to the thousands of seals that fish and sun off the coastline, and is home to the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, although that fact hasn’t deterred the pull to Chatham. Bordered only by Harwich, the majority of the town abuts the Atlantic Ocean, hence all the stunning coastline and beaches.
